How much Poka reads
B4 Summary. The container and metadata are read and summarised (counts, properties, structure), but the main content is not rendered.
Confidence: medium (the reviewer read the code). Basis: Reviewed 2026-10-26: read parsers/poka-sid/src/main.rs (358 lines) and plugin.json. The two unit tests check that MrSID images are refused with a name and that SID music is not mistaken for one; the corpus has sample.sid but no test reads its fields. Covers .sid, .psid and .rsid. The tree decodes the header: format and version, name, author, released, song count and start song, load (inferred from the data when 0), init and play addresses, data offset and speed bits, and for version 2 and later the video standard, SID models, MUS and BASIC flags and the second and third SID addresses. Judgement: B4 rather than B5, because the whole header is decoded and checked; nothing of the tune (the C64 code and data) is.
What Poka does not read
- The tune is not played or disassembled
- Speed bits are shown raw, not per song
- Start page and page length (relocation information) are not shown
- Files over 1 MiB are cut (flagged)
Libraries
Libraries Poka uses or has assessed for this format, with the status, licence and language the registry records.
- sid_file (candidate; MIT; Rust; https://github.com/fazibear/sid_file) — Parser for the SID tune file format, v0.1.0 (August 2026); docs not seen to confirm PSID versus RSID header handling.
- libsidplayfp (reference; GPL-2.0-or-later; unknown; https://github.com/libsidplayfp/libsidplayfp) — copyleft; C64 music player library with a PSID loader; RSID support not confirmed on the page. Language not stated there.
