How much Poka reads
B4 Summary. The container and metadata are read and summarised (counts, properties, structure), but the main content is not rendered.
Confidence: medium (the reviewer read the code). Basis: Reviewed 2026-10-26: read parsers/poka-mds/src/main.rs (373 lines) and plugin.json. No unit tests or tests/samples.rs; the corpus has aaru_libcdio-isofs-m1.mds, read by no test. Covers .mds. The tree shows the signature, version, medium type, session count, BCA presence and offsets, and walks the session blocks and their track blocks (mode, subchannel, start sector) with a layout summary. Judgement: B4: the disc layout is decoded, but the data (in the .mdf) is not read.
What Poka does not read
- The disc data lives in the .mdf, which is not read: no file system or track content
- Layouts that differ between Alcohol versions may stop the walk (the code treats offsets as untrusted)
- Disc-structure and read-speed (DPM) data are located, not decoded
- Caps of 99 sessions and 99 tracks
Libraries
Libraries Poka uses or has assessed for this format, with the status, licence and language the registry records.
- libMirage (candidate; licence unconfirmed; C; https://cdemu.sourceforge.io/about/libmirage/) — CDemu disc image library reading Alcohol 120% MDS/MDX; project page gives no libMirage licence (Debian metadata reportedly GPL-2.0+).
