How much Poka reads

B4 Summary. The container and metadata are read and summarised (counts, properties, structure), but the main content is not rendered.

Confidence: medium (the reviewer read the code). Basis: Reviewed 2026-10-26: read parsers/poka-dsk/src/main.rs (652 lines) and plugin.json. No unit tests or tests/samples.rs; the corpus has Apps1.DSK, read by no test. Covers .dsk and .do. The tree detects the variant: for CPC and +3 DSK it reads the disc information block (creator, tracks, sides, track sizes); for a FAT12 image it decodes the boot sector and lists the root directory; otherwise it infers the geometry from the size. Judgement: B4: the disk's structure is decoded and, for FAT12, the root directory listed, but no file is extracted.

What Poka does not read

  • File contents are not extracted or shown
  • FAT12: only the root directory is listed; subdirectories are not walked
  • CPC and +3 DSK: the CP/M or AMSDOS directory is not read, so no file is listed
  • Apple II .dsk and .do images (DOS 3.3, ProDOS) are only sized, not read
  • Files over 16 MiB are cut without a flag
