How much Poka reads
B4 Summary. The container and metadata are read and summarised (counts, properties, structure), but the main content is not rendered.
Confidence: medium (the reviewer read the code). Basis: Reviewed 2026-10-26: read parsers/poka-fontforge/src/main.rs (418 lines) and plugin.json. No unit tests or tests/samples.rs; the corpus has sample.sfd, read by no test. Covers .sfd. The tree shows the font's identity and metrics from the header lines, a sample of up to 200 glyphs with their code points, and the GSUB and GPOS lookups. Judgement: B4: the font is summarised and its glyphs sampled, but no outline is drawn.
What Poka does not read
- Glyph outlines (splines) are not drawn
- Only the first 200 glyphs and 200 lookups are listed
- Kerning classes, anchors, hints and bitmap strikes are not read
- Header keys outside the identity and metrics set are not shown
Libraries
Libraries Poka uses or has assessed for this format, with the status, licence and language the registry records.
- FontForge (reference; GPL-3.0; C; https://github.com/fontforge/fontforge) — copyleft; Reference reader (fontforge/sfd.c per the format page); no standalone SFD parser library was found, so this is the full application.
