How much Poka reads

B4 Summary. The container and metadata are read and summarised (counts, properties, structure), but the main content is not rendered.

Confidence: medium (the reviewer read the code). Basis: Reviewed 2026-10-26: read parsers/poka-gba/src/main.rs (312 lines) and plugin.json. No unit tests or tests/samples.rs; the corpus has hello.gba (a test ROM) but no test reads it. Covers .gba. The tree decodes the 192-byte header: title, game code and region, maker code (named for about 30 publishers), version, the header checksum (verified), the Nintendo logo (checked by a leading fingerprint and a sum), the entry branch, main unit, device type and the fixed byte. Judgement: B4 rather than B5, because the whole header is decoded and checked; nothing of the ROM content (code, graphics, sound) is.

What Poka does not read

  • ROM content is not decoded: no code, graphics or sound
  • Save type (EEPROM, SRAM, Flash) is not detected
  • The logo is checked by fingerprint and sum, not byte for byte
  • Files over 64 MiB are cut (flagged)
