How much Poka reads

B1 Complete. Everything the format defines that a reader would see is decoded, in every version Poka claims. Anything not decoded is immaterial and listed.

Confidence: high (the reviewer read the code and a test that proves the claim). Basis: Reviewed 2026-10-16: parsers/poka-rdd/src/lib.rs, tests/samples.rs; corpus oracle_1zone.rdd (real IDF style, EnergyPlus 26.2) and regular-style-from-oracle_1zone.rdd (re-encoded by the project, not real engine output). Both styles are read; variable type and units come from the trailing comment in IDF style.

What Poka does not read

  • The reporting frequency in the IDF-style object is not shown (immaterial: it is the default hourly)

Background

The EnergyPlus documentation describes the RDD as the list of report variables with their availability; the simulation has to run before the list is known. Like the MDD it comes in IDF style or as a regular table, chosen by Output:VariableDictionary. Poka reads both styles. In IDF style the variable type and units are only in the trailing !- comment, so they are taken from there.
