How much Poka reads
B5 Identification. The format is recognised and a few properties are shown (name, size, version string). Nothing of the content is decoded.
Confidence: medium (the reviewer read the code). Basis: Reviewed 2026-10-26: read parsers/poka-br/src/main.rs (191 lines) and plugin.json. No unit tests or tests/samples.rs; the corpus has no .br sample. Covers .br. The card reads the window size (WBITS) from the first bits and the first meta-block header (is-last, empty, declared length). Code wins: the module comment says the meta-blocks are counted, but the code reads only the first one. Judgement: B5: only the header is decoded; the compressed data is not walked or decoded.
What Poka does not read
- The data is not decompressed, so the content is not shown
- Only the first meta-block header is read; the stream is not walked
- There is no magic number, so any file is accepted if its first bits give a plausible window size (judgement from the code)
Libraries
Libraries Poka uses or has assessed for this format, with the status, licence and language the registry records.
- rust-brotli (candidate; BSD-3-Clause OR MIT; Rust; https://github.com/dropbox/rust-brotli) — Compressor and decompressor, optionally no_std; repo ships both licence files and does not say how they apply.
- google/brotli (candidate; MIT; C; https://github.com/google/brotli) — Reference implementation with bindings for other languages.
